SERIAL

Format: SERIAL [FROM <filename>) [EDIT] [USE] [SAVE] [PUBSCREEN <public screen name>] [UNIT <unit>] Template: FROM, EDIT/S, USE/S, SAVE/S, PUBSCREEN/K, INIT/S Purpose: To set the specifications for communication through the serial port. Path: Extras:Prefs/Serial Specifcation: SERIAL without any arguments or with the EDIT argument opens the Serial editor. The FROM argument lets you specify a file to open. This must be a file that was previously saved with the Save As menu item of the Serial editor. For example, if you have saved a special configuration of the Serial editor to a file in the Presets drawer, you can use the FROM argument to open that file. If the USE switch is also given, the editor will not open, but the settings in the FROM file will be used. If the SAVE switch is given, the editor will not open, but the settings in the FROM file will be saved. SERlAL UNIT opens the Serial editor with a Device Unit gadget added to the editor. Select the unit to which output should be sent. If SERIAL UNIT <unit> is specifed, output will be sent to the specified <unit>. Example: 1> SERIAL Prefs/Presets/Serial.9600 USE Loads and uses the specifcations saved in the Serial.9600 file. If the system is rebooted, the last saved settings will take effect.
